Outdoor advertising is often a case of the bigger, the better. This is especially true in high density urban areas where standing out from the clutter means scaling up to the max. While it is not always realistic to affix a giant screen to a side of a skyscraper, it’s still inspiring to see how to really make an impact. Here are a few of the biggest screens in the world.
The Place, Beijing, China
According to Guinness World Records, the largest LED screen in the world is in Beijing, China, and measures a massive 250 m x 30 m (820 ft x 98 ft), which makes a total surface area of 7,500 m² (80,729 ft²). It’s actually made up from five screens fitted together, and has been in place since 2009.
The Place is a lifestyle shopping mall, which incorporates dining, entertainment, leisure, and cultural events. There are many famous brand names at the mall, such as Zara, New Balance, and Starbucks.
Broadway, New York
Fixed to the side of the Marriott Marquis Hotel on 45th St, in New York’s famous Broadway district, is one of the largest LED screens in the world, measuring 330 ft. by 78 ft. It spans the entire length of the building, and is described as one of the most technically advanced displays in the world.
It has an ultra high-definition display, with 24 million pixels, and displays artworks and advertising.
The Cube, Brisbane, Australia
The Cube in Brisbane, Australia, is described as one of the largest interactive digital displays in the world. It is sited at the Queensland University of Technology, and has 48 multi-touch screens spanning two storeys of the Science and Engineering Centre.
It’s designed to deliver digital learning experiences to the public, in science, technology, engineering, and maths subjects.
