Blank Black Led Display In Airport Lounge Mockup, Side View, 3d

Digital signage is evolving all the time, with more sophisticated technology that can achieve spectacular 3D results. As an advertising tool, it’s proven to be highly effective, with statistics repeatedly showing that digital LED screens are more eye-catching and memorable than regular static billboards.

The tools to measure and target audiences are also becoming more specific and effective, with programmatic options to ensure that the right ads are shown to the right people at the right time. This increases the effectiveness of the content and provides a far better return on investment.

Some of the most well known examples of digital advertising use the wonders of modern technology to make a fresh take on reaching out to consumers. Here are some of the best digital ads of the recent past.

City of Edinburgh Christmas card campaign

Back in 2016, the city of Edinburgh used digital displays in bus shelters along Princes Street to show Christmas cards designed by local school children. This was a simple concept to draw in the local community, and the public response was overwhelmingly positive.

Land Rover’s See Winter Differently campaign

Another ad from 2016, Land Rover’s DOOH winter advertising campaign encouraged people to get and about during the colder and darker months of the year, showing that winter can also be a time for exploration and beauty.

British Airways Look Up campaign

BA made early use of programmatic digital advertising with its 2013 Look Up campaign. A digital billboard featuring a simple image of a young boy looking towards the sky was synced with overhead flights, and the details of the plane were displayed on the screen.

The ad was displayed in Piccadilly Circus, London, and is thought to be the first example of such targeted technology.
